Student-led, community-driven

MIST is a completely student-run collective inside MIT, MAHE. Every academic cycle we rotate responsibility across squads so new members can shadow, learn, and eventually lead capture-the-flag rosters, blue-team operations, and community programs.

Squads at a glance

• Research & Attack/Defense – Runs internal scrims, writes challenges, and represents MIST at national and global CTFs.
• Blue Team & Infrastructure – Maintains our on-campus lab, sets up Sudo Saturdays, and manages the attack/defense ranges showcased on the legacy site.
• Operations & Outreach – Handles Club Expo, collaboration bootcamps, and cross-campus workshops to help beginners get into security.
• Story & Documentation – Publishes The Cache, Hall of Fame write-ups, and long-form pieces for The Typewriter.

How we work together

Expect weekly labs, Sudo Saturday simulations, late-night write-up reviews, and a heavy emphasis on shipping. Seniors pair with first-years, we document everything, and every project is expected to land as a talk, repo, or Cache article.
